OUR SUSTAINABILITY COMMITMENT
Constantly learning.
On a journey to be better.
Constantly learning.
On a journey to be better.
We create with intention, avoiding unnecessary additives and eliminating fragrance oils.
We obsess over the details and strive to deliver the best by sourcing our ingredients carefully.
Made in San Diego, CA with love and sunshine.
All of our products are nearly made-to-order. We keep an eye on demand and consistently only make exactly what we need.
This is intentional, because although we are a "consumer packaged good", we don't want to add to the over-consumption problem in the world.
A lot of goods are overproduced and create a lot of waste, all to increase profit margins and add to executives' pockets.
We care about building a profitable business, but not at the expense of the earth if we can help it.
No product business is perfect when it comes to this, but we choose to be mindful of it.
In a consumables business, it's difficult to avoid plastic altogether, but we are trying our hardest.
Our droppers for our bottles do have a plastic lid and our dropper vials have plastic lids, but that is the extent of our plastic use in our products.
Our bottles and jars are made of glass. Our jar lids are metal. We use kraft boxes and kraft paper for shipping.
We're doing constant research to find better ways to approach our packaging as we grow.
We believe it would be hypocritical to aim to be a sustainable CPG business and yet use AI in our business operations.
We reduce, where possible, any AI use because we believe the real power in creating something good and sustainable comes from real people. Our web site was created and written by our founder. Each product is handmade with care. We've opted out of AI use in our business management softwares wherever possible.
We firmly believe that AI is a detriment to society, particularly in how it is destroying the environment, and we choose to opt out of using it wherever possible.
We are regularly looking at ways to continue to reduce our footprint, and hope to do more to proactively help the environment, but it starts with making the choice to not actively and needlessly participate in its harm.
I started my first personal care manufacturing business in 2013.
I had run other types of businesses previously, but running a consumer packaged goods business was eye opening. I immediately noticed how much more trash I was creating. It was boxes, plastic wrapping, paper scraps, foam peanuts from shipments. It just kept increasing as we grew. Damaged containers tossed out, leftover product supplies, returned products. The trash just kept increasing.
When I launched Bones Remain, I wanted to do things differently this time. I didn't want the waste to escalate and I didn't want to feel like a major contributor to the product waste consumption problem.
So we are scaling slowly, with intentionality.
